Summer 2012: Foster Care to Success brings 24 student interns to DC for our prestigious InternAmerica Program! Learn more.
This internship will do wonders for your self esteem. Because of the media and the importance of Washington DC, I thought that the city would be huge and prestigious. I figured that it would be a little scarry getting around town, but in reality after a few weeks I found Washington DC to be smaller than what it is stereotyped to be. Aftern this internship, I have found that it isn’t impossible to picture myself actually working in DC in a few short years.
I even met someone my age (20) who had just received a beginning level job at a law firm in Washington DC, on the metro. He told me that with the help of his colleges carrer center, and the success of sending his resume that in a few months he landed the job.
I’m not saying that receiving a job in DC is not going to be easy but it is obtainable.
I want to thank Foster Care to Success for the opportunity to learn this valuable information.
Thanks April! Very cool that you met someone on the metro who got a job at a law firm. DC is a fun city and there are still a lot of jobs! So maybe you WILL end up working here in a few years! : )
